Summer League 2020 UpdateEarlier this week the Committee met via video conferencing to discuss the way forward for the league during the current pandemic.
Although there are indications that the measures put in place by the government have been successful in slowing down the spread of the virus, it is a mixed and inconsistent picture and we are only too aware that any adjustments to the current measures may risk a second peak of infections. Our main priority is, of course, to keep everyone safe - players, officials and volunteers alike. We therefore agreed that given the Government's stance on the current corona virus outbreak and how the picture looks for the foreseeable future in terms of social distancing, sadly, we are unable to see a way in which we can run the league this year. It is hoped that our decision will also help to support other local leagues who, at some point, need to complete their remaining winter season matches. If you have already paid your entry fee, please contact Eileen Blocksidge - Treasurer, with your bank details and she will arrange to reimburse you within the next week or so. Her email address is : kenneth.blocksidge357@btinternet.com Hopefully we will be back on court for summer netball next year but in the meantime the committee wish you and your families all the best and trust that you will keep well and stay safe. DUDLEY NETBALL LEAGUE WelcomeWelcome to the Dudley Netball League Summer Season 2019! Each season seems to creep up on us more and more quickly but we are looking forward to another good season! A warm welcome to all teams, both returning and new; it is great to keep getting so much interest and we have been able to filed 8 teams in all 9 divisions; another testament to the success and popularity of the league.
You will be aware, and will definitely notice that George Salter are having building work undertaken this summer and parking will be at a premium all season. As we have highlighted at the AGM and Secretaries Meeting, unfortunately there is little we can do about this but we urge you to allow a little extra time, and to car share as much as possible. We continue to strive to improve the league, introducing what we hope are positive changes to ensure that the league is enjoyable, competitive and fair for all, and as usual I thank all of you as passionate players, but also the dedication of the umpires, scorers and Committee Members, without whom we couldn't run a league. I go into this season as confident as ever that this will be another great year of competitive netball, played in the right spirit. With the increased coverage netball is now getting in the UK there's never been a better time to be involved in this wonderful game and the Netball World Cup in Liverpool will be an opportunity for the sport to be played on the world stage, with no doubt fantastic support, probably by many members of our league. So, here's to another great season, some great netball, and most importantly, enjoyment!
